Who Wins? Alliance Leaders vs. Horde Leaders

Note: We’ve received an influx of people to this post and new comments, so we decided to bring it back as a re-post.

A new vigor in World PVP that hasn’t been seen since the vanilla WoW days has been sparked since the new Achievement System was released. I must admit I had a lot of fun taking down every faction leader and also receiving a huge bear mount in my mailbox but what would happen if it wasn’t the players versus each faction leader? On the forums Karthane brings up the idea of a 4 v 4 Arena type match between Horde and Alliance leaders. Of course most of the comments are met with sarcasm but given that each leader has only the abilities they have in game and are all placed within an arena match environment, who would come out on top? Lets look at their abilities. Voljin and Tinker will sit this one out.

Revisiting Old Raids

Tue, Oct 27, 2009

For the first time in almost a year, I stepped foot into Karazhan to do what I thought would be a decent difficulty feat. That being, two-manning Karazhan. As I walked through the raid that literally got me into raiding, I took in most of the details I failed to see previously. I noticed dancing spirits (I honestly never noticed they were dancing), the dialogue between most of the “visitors” and dead bodies scattered across the raid.

Starting New Guild, Need a Good Name.

Fri, Oct 23, 2009

I recently decided that I was going to try to lead a guild. I know it is quite daunting task, but I know that it would be great to lead people through the game and experience more of it myself. With that, what do you guys think would be a good name for it? Little details. My character name is JerryLewis and a friend of mine on the server is DeanMartin (Co-Writer and Co-Host on Podcast), so something that corrsponds to those names would be really cool. Any name would be good, I’m just drawing blanks right now.

Look at you Terrible Healer. You’ve gotten yourself geared up and ready to step into Trial of the Crusader. You have a little more confidence than you did going into Onyxia and of course, more experience. Alongside your trusted guild mates, you’re ready to fight some of Northrend’s fieriest beasts.

As with anything, good luck Terrible Healer and I look forward to your continued success. (more…)

Why Being Geared Doesn’t Exist Anymore in People’s Minds

Mon, Oct 19, 2009

I was organizing my weekly pug for Ulduar when I received a tell from someone telling me I’m an idiot for trying to find people “geared” and more so, “who knew the fights”. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I had to think about it to myself for a minute, does being geared matter anymore? With so much gear so readily accessible, it’s hard to gauge where people stand anyway, maybe I was being overzealous I presumed. Back in TBC, when you saw someone in Tier5 or Tier6, you knew they were a good raider. (Most of the time) It was a status symbol to be honest. When my Paladin got his first few pieces of Tier 5, I felt like I was one of the few who faced down against the baddest guys in the game, and lived.

The breakdown is, with the idea in people’s minds that everything in Wrath should be accessible with whatever they have on, they literally don’t seem to fathom that there is a reason you need better gear or need to have experience in lesser fights, because to me, some of the content isn’t something you can steamroll over. I will bring 10-man ToC as an example. The first encounter in the fight in Northrend Beasts. The encounter isn’t that difficult but if you don’t have the dps to burn down each guy down in the proper time, you will be in mucho trouble. Healers will be close to oom and you will have not one but two jormungars coming your way with a group in distress.  I was one of those healers and watching dps struggle to just get kobolds off of us, was frustrating enough.

Between Dreams and Life

Imagine yourself standing in the center of a city. The crowd cheers as you raise your arms slightly to show acknowledgement. As you close your eyes, you can look back on everything that got you to this point. You’re a hero and for the time being, the only thing that matters at this moment. Slowly you collect yourself and realize you are standing on mailbox in the middle of Stormwind. For what could have been a mere seconds, you lost yourself, more so, immersed yourself in this character you created.

Recently I’ve been having more and more dreams about WoW. I know most would look at that statement and think perhaps I need to take a break but outside of sleep, I’ve never envisioned anything about myself being one with my character. I could vividly feel the soft cloth hood leaking over my forehead and the wooden staff feeling chilled in my hand. There was no /trade chat, there was no one else besides beings which I perceived as real.  I was standing in the middle of a long staircase, the walls were frozen and I could see others looking outwards towards something at the top. I knew these people. I could see everyone I raided with but they were all silent. As I grabbed my face, I could feel the fibers of hair hanging down. I had become a Dwarf and whatever was over this staircase was going to horrify me. I inched my way towards the top.

My Mom Wears a For The Horde Shirt

As I walked out of the store, I wish I had realized my mom was wearing a Horde t-shirt. It was one of those moments where you suddenly realize that you’re in a situation you can’t escape. The woman who conceived me is walking around the store representing her Orc Shaman (She put her Druid on the back burner). I knew for the most part, anyone who didn’t play the game wouldn’t get the reference but the fact that she went out of her way to get this t-shirt and more so to equip herself with it.. eek. My mother has several characters and for each, she has painted and hung their portraits on the wall almost like proud trophies. She calls them chat starters, I call them /familyquit .

Now you may wonder how bad could it be having a family playing WoW (I forgot to mention my father the Tauren Hunter)? I brought over my girlfriend at the time from a pretty decent drive to stay the weekend. We were going to go to dinner and basically just have her become acquainted with the family. I did the same with her parents. They’re both bankers and told me I need to save more.  When we arrived, the lights were very dim. She jokingly said they were probably in the room getting it on. I told her they probably were. Although I meant in Ulduar.

Who Said It? Garrosh or Bill O’Reilly

Sun, Oct 11, 2009

I was leveling my alt when I heard some banter between Saurfang and Garrosh. I felt as if I’ve heard this particular type of talking somewhere else, when it truly hit me! Garrosh is actually Bill O’ Reilly. I’ve searched for hours to truly find the best gems I could that were spoken by both of these Noble Warriors.  Now without cheating, which I know is tough since it’s so readily available, who said it?

“My father always said be thankful for what you have. And make sure you have enough.”
