You Mean Dwarf Mages Existed Before Cataclysm?

Sorry about the quality!

I was flipping through my old WoW manual when I came across this. After looking into it more, apparently it was a last minute change to take out Dwarf Mages. Either way, did anyone else notice in the manual prior to reading this? (more…)

Leveling in Soon-To-Be Old Azeroth

If you’re like me, you’ve seen the World of Azeroth many times over. You remember Barrens chat and also your humble beginnings of running 6 minutes to get back to your body across the map. (Pre-Bc) You don’t need me to tell you what was great about it but there is something I should tell you. For most, you haven’t seen all of Azeroth. You wonder, how can this be? I have several high level toons and I’m currently leveling one right now. The truth is, until a few months ago, I never leveled an Alliance toon. Having several capped toons on the Horde side, I was pretty much prepared for Cataclysm to come roaring in and destroy zones that have tormented me for years. I’m looking at you Desolace!

As a friend and I decided to level our new characters on a PVE server, we decided to try the other Faction. To my amazement, I felt as if I was playing a new game. Westfall, Red Ridge, Loch Modan.. all of these places with great lore and also new quests I’ve never done.  Don’t get me wrong, when I hit 28, I had no idea where to go or what to do. Certain times during my euphoria, I would burst out in a fit of rage that every zone led me to no where or that I had to travel across to the other continent and ride across most of it just to get to a new quest hub. Those are the times I still can’t wait for the new content to hit but when I run Deadmines for the first time with people who also have never run it, it feels great to have the amazement and wonder for something new. Of course I didn’t have time to take it in as the Warlock decided to pull the whole instance with his Voidwalker, but it was very cool to fight Edwin before he becomes macho and heroic in the next expansion.

New Writer for WoW Relief, Jonathan Clay

Jonathan Clay is the newest writer for WR.

It’s a great pleasure of mine to be a writer for this wonderful site, a pleasure, and a means for heart-pumping excitement. You see, this is my first ever article that I have written. Ever. So I don’t aim to disappoint all you dedicated WowRelief listeners and readers. For this article I wanted to just share some experiences from one of my own characters, my first character actually. My original character was a Tauren Warrior named Elnoobpowner, and I’ve done everything you can do with a warrior, from PvE tanking, to PvP arms, so naturally I’d like to consider myself knowledgeable in that area.

Helping Strangers

While my Warrior articles may paint a story that I’m breezing through leveling and enjoying every minute, the truth is I have hit walls. As I continued to die, I nearly gave up on what seemed to be a fruitless attempt at finishing a quest. As I ran to my body, I received a tell from a Death Knight who happened to be riding by and asked if I needed for him to help me out. To be honest, I was shocked that only did someone say they wanted to help me, but someone who was in the zone just passing by, wanted to help someone they didn’t know. I shouldn’t act like helping people doesn’t happen but truthfully even I find myself only inviting or helping someone if it benefits me, rather than them.

After he basically ravaged most of The Wetlands, I told him I was thankful for helping me and that I was shocked that someone would take the time to help out a Gnome Warrior (People hate Gnomes). He told me that just hours prior, he had someone who helped him as he was leveling an alt and had been looking for the chance to go out and do it for someone else. It was almost as if kindness was contagious. I finished up in Wetlands and signed on to my main. I headed to Red Ridge and found a Human Warlock struggling with a few Blackrock Orcs and asked if she needed me to help her out. She thanked me and continued questing in the area.

Why Do People Hate Blizzard’s In-Game Pet Store?

With anything that Blizzard adds to the game that wasn’t originally imagined from the beginning, the community takes up pitch-forks and flaming sticks to hurl. Why such hate for an idea that gives us access to new vanity pets? I don’t know. Vanity pets in-game are just that. They serve no purpose other than to have a little buddy follow you around. They are a little add-on you can enjoy. Today Blizzard announced the opening of a store which would sell Pandaren Monk pet and a Lil K’T pet. Also to be noted is the fact that they will donate half of the money earned to the Make-a-Wish foundation, an organization Blizzard has a history with in the past.

The Warrior Experience (20-22)

Perhaps it’s just me, but I always seem to get lost for a good hour on where the hell I should go on my Alliance toons. After much diliberation, I headed to Menethil Harbor and entered the raptor playground. To add to my dismay, I forgot that I bought the riding skill and mount. So what did I do? I walked all the way from Loch to the Inn within Menethil Harbor. After setting my hearthstone, I saw the little mechno icon on my right and literally felt like logging out due to my extreme unconscious moment.  Besides that, lets get back into Warrior goodness.

I had a lot of confusion before I hit 20. I wanted to charge into mobs while I was questing or running instances but was tired of losing all of the rage which was a great benefit of it. At 20, I saw my saving grace! Stance Mastery. Since Charge gives me 9 rage, I can finally “Stance Dance”, or at least that is what I think I’m doing. I may be vain, but I feel the one thing that makes me love my Warrior is charging. I charge into a pit of mobs, down a hill, through a grocery store and around a bend. I’m a huge fan of Charge. Cleave was another move I was super excited about. Saurfang used to Cleave Alliance members across the continent, so I was glad to have my very own. It was easy to work into the rotation while tanking.

Circle of Healers – Holy Priest

Sun, Nov 1, 2009

Seemingly everyone has done one, so I decided to join the bunch!

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer?
Jerry Lewis, Priest, Holy

What is your primary group healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)
10-player PVE raid healing

What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why?
Prayer of Mending. I remember watching Priests during raids throw out PoM and it would bounce around with all its healing goodness. Truthfully, one of the reasons I rolled a Priest.

What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?

Holy Nova. I used to love spamming it while leveling but now constantly forget that I actually have it. Unless I’m running through a lowbie instance, it sits off to the side on my bar.

I Started Leveling a Warrior

Fri, Oct 30, 2009

My experience with Warriors in WoW has been bad to say the least. It’s sad to say especially since the first character I ever made in the game was a Tauren Warrior. I can remember back in Vanilla WoW, struggling to just fight a single mob. Of course, I was completely new to the game and picked what I still consider, one of the hardest classes to level. (I know most of you will disagree but it’s my memories!) I eventually got the hang of the class while I approached Thousand Needles. I was soon unsubscribing to WoW and deleting my Warrior from existence.  Of course I came back a few months later to try an Undead Mage but I knew I could never overcome all of the hate I had for that damn cow. To be honest, thinking back now, my Talent Trees were probably a mess. I barely knew what professions were, can’t imagine Talent Trees being my strong point.

As I continue to play Alliance, I’ve been trying to create new classes I haven’t had the chance to play while on the Horde side. As I looked through the classes, I decided the choices were between Shaman, Druid and Warrior. I think I must have misclicked, because I found myself in the Gnome starting area with a fresh Warrior. I felt a cold wind blow through my room and loud crashes on lightning smack my roof. There was nothing more terrifying to me, than playing a Warrior. I took a deep breathe and started off on my leveling but something weird happened. Something I wasn’t expecting at all to be honest.
